The character of even a child can be known by the way he acts—whether what he does is pure and right. Prov 20:11

So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complement your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, 7warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. 2 Pet. 1:5-7

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14

We tend to base our actions

on how others treat us.

Treat others as you want them to treat you. Matt 7:12

Kindness is:

Allowing love to be expressed in my words and actions.

Kindness is significant because:

  • My life is healthier when I’m kind.

Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you. Prov 11:17

  • It’s a result of God in us..

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Gal 5:22

If you are angry, you cannot do any of the good things that God wants done. James 1:20

Kindness is seen in:

  • How we speak to others.

Everything you say should be kind and well thought out so that you know how to answer everyone. Col 4:6

  • How we serve others.

Luke 10:30 – Story of the good Samaritan.

And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Matt 6:30

  • How we see others.

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along will all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31-32

The LORD is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness. Ps 145:17

Connection Group Questions:

These questions also work well for personal time with God.

  • Tell about a time when some was kind to you. What stood out to you in their actions? How did they make you feel?
  • Do you tend to base your actions on how others treat you? Why?
  • In what ways has God been kind to you? explain and go into detail.
  • How does God’s kindness inspire kindness in us?
  • Read the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30); What character do you most identify with?
  • What prevents kindness in our lives?
  • Why is Kindness necessary for those that follow Christ?
  • Who is someone that God wants you to be kind to? (It’s usually that person that gets on your nerves the most J)
  • Ask God to change your heart and to develop in you kindness.
